A compact, repeatable coupon for characterising dimensional behaviour across holes, pins, walls, external geometry and Z-height features in an FDM printing process.
PQ-01 is designed to reveal how a specific printer, material, nozzle, slicer profile and measurement method behave together. It is not intended to make every feature print nominal without compensation; the value is in exposing geometry-specific process behaviour so it can be understood and controlled.
Earlier physical testing showed that closely spaced external bosses were difficult to measure consistently with standard calipers and that diameter could vary depending on the height at which the jaws were placed. Version 1.2 increases access around the boss bank, defines a common measurement height and adds a dedicated profile cylinder so height-dependent diameter variation becomes a measured characteristic rather than an uncontrolled source of error.
PQ-01 v1.2 is available free for personal and internal business process-characterisation use. The geometry remains a neutral nominal artefact: measured results are published separately rather than altering the CAD to suit one printer or profile.
STL, 3MF, measurement guide, blank workbook, layout preview, README and licence in one ZIP.
Download PQ-01 v1.2 free bundleUse the production profile you actually want to characterise. Keep model scale at 100% and do not introduce special XY or hole compensation for the initial baseline.
Use the defined feature planes in the guide, reseat the caliper for repeats, and record conditions such as printer, nozzle, layer height and material.
Compare holes, external cylinders, walls and reference geometry separately instead of hiding them in one average accuracy number.
The first full study using v1.2 compares a Bambu Lab X1C and H2D at 0.4 mm nozzle / 0.20 mm layer height and adds an H2D 0.2 mm nozzle configuration. Read Bambu X1C vs H2D dimensional accuracy: measured engineering test. The corrected results workbook is available alongside the article.
Public v1.2 release. Geometry, documentation and first three-configuration physical validation are complete. The coupon remains nominal and uncompensated so geometry-specific process error remains visible.
Licence: free personal and internal-business use; no redistribution of the digital files and no commercial resale of printed copies without separate permission.
The digital coupon files and the published measurement dataset use separate D&L terms. See the published dataset licence for reuse of measurement data; the downloadable PQ-01 package includes the licence for the STL/3MF files.
